Since dad, Harding, has taken a job that requires him to travel away from home Monday through Thursday every week, oldest daughter, Hailey, 11, acts out, setting the tone for behavior for her siblings – who then misbehave too. Hailey openly discusses how much she hates her sister Camryn, 8, trashes her 4-year-old brother Matthew’s projects and defies discipline around the clock, driving her helpless mom, Michelle, to tears. Hailey even hits her mother when she doesn’t like what she hears. When dad’s at home, he’s no more effective in enforcing discipline. Jo digs deep to find out what’s motivating Hailey’s horrible behavior – and finds that the youngster keenly misses her relationship with her frequently absent dad and feels as if mom doesn’t trust her. Jo sets out to deepen the father-daughter bond and to develop trust between mom and Hailey with some imaginative exercises. But she’s also got to help build up Michele’s backbone, since her passivity only feeds Hailey’s unrest. Does it work?
