Batman wouldn't wear an old curtain

It's too big, it's too narrow, it's too colourful, then it's too plain... so it was trying to make ds1 a pair of Batman wings on a whim yesterday morning. We're away from home, so I haven't got a resource of 10 years of crappy cut offs to draw on and had to make use of a few bits of canvas left over from our drape making fiasco. So no plain black gossamer, sorry son! But does anyone have any tips on shaking this constant fussiness out of his system? It's not whining, it's not impatience, it's just Not Right.... and it's driving me up the wall!!!
